So at work, we have short cube walls which in theory probably sound like a great idea… but it’s not. I know more about my neighbor’s habits and manners (or lack thereof) that I don’t even want to get into details or else I will gag. However, we get to listen to music while working which helps not only tune them out when they are talking to their doctor describing their “symptoms” which sound eerily like they have caught some funky disease the last time they went back to their home country (true story that reminds me to update my shots) but also makes the time fly by!
Lately my iPod has been playing:
Adele – 21. The entire album. There really isn’t much I can say that hasn’t already been said but I am obsessed with Adele (and have been) so this album is just icing on the cake. Swoon.
Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me! It has this amazing ability to calm me immediately after having to deal with the crazies at work. I laugh outloud in my cube and I don’t even care. I keep past episodes on my phone that I will listen to over and over again. They never get old.
I absolutely adore Katy Perry! I mean, how could you not when she lists her musical influences as Alanis Morissette, Cyndi Lauper, Pat Benatar and Freddie Mercury (yes, frontman of Queen). She is so poppy, fun, and I love her style.
Katy was even in one of my favorite TV series which leads me into…
Yes, How I Met Your Mother. I hated last night’s episode – so ready for Zoe to be outted. But I do love the Robin Sparkles, especially this song, so much that it’s my ringtone (which is probably why I feel like I am always listening to it). Also, I never seem to skip it when it comes up on shuffle… and that’s saying something.
Finally, the inner geek in me loves Glee and everything about it… including the music of course. It takes some serious self-restraint to not sing at my desk; dancing on the other hand is another story. However, when I read this, I’m not sure how I feel… I love Glee, love Adele, but couldn’t they have found a better voice? I get it, Gwyneth has definitely improved her voice but come on. This is going a tad too far. So maybe I should revise that first sentence to read: “…loves Glee and everything about it except when they have actors sing songs well out of their vocal range and league.” There. Better. But who’s excited for this!! I know right.
