chevron

I’ve been on such a chevron kick lately… and it is not helping that it is everywhere! Some of my favorites (and just realized that they are all neutral or yellow):

Fun pouf floor pillow from aletafae

Need this in my living room from West Elm

Would look amazing in the guest bedroom from appetitehome

Borrowing this idea from Dwellings By Devore when I finally get my dining room furniture!

Must have for my upcoming vacations from Cole Haan

Oh what upcoming vacations you ask? Well, now that work has FINALLY slowed down — a little too much actually — I am able to get away this weekend for a quick trip to Florida. And because work is at a crawl, I will have so much more time to post! So be looking for not only a vacation post to come, but also a NOLA and CO post! Get excited… I’m finally back!

paris

Know of a better way to completely ignore the fact that I have been M.I.A. for months? How about sharing this:

Do it (or not… betters my chances!). Enter here!!

making me laugh

I can’t stop looking at this pic of L. Ohemgee.

brunch

Saturday brunch was filled with omelets, eggs benedict with crab cakes and raspberry/strawberry mimosas. Yes, it was in fact that good (and pretty much sums up my weekend). Yum!

perusing

Going through Williams-Sonoma food processors – I think I settled on this lovely 11-cup beauty – I fell for the “if you think this, then I think you will like this!” trap but stumbled upon the cutest Bundt pan! I think it would even make the cake taste better…

congrats!

I got a rather exciting phone call last night…

Aaron proposed! These two are getting married and I couldn’t be happier or more excited. Congrats to Aaron and Becky! Love you both! 2011 has definitely been a good year for us 707B girls I must say.

How ridiculously adorable are these mugs from apiecebydenise? Love.

dinner

{sweet potato fries, green rice and chicken}

Don’t judge. It fed two.

This was after I smoked out the kitchen…

…oops.

listening to

So at work, we have short cube walls which in theory probably sound like a great idea… but it’s not. I know more about my neighbor’s habits and manners (or lack thereof) that I don’t even want to get into details or else I will gag. However, we get to listen to music while working which helps not only tune them out when they are talking to their doctor describing their “symptoms” which sound eerily like they have caught some funky disease the last time they went back to their home country (true story that reminds me to update my shots) but also makes the time fly by!

Lately my iPod has been playing:

Adele – 21. The entire album. There really isn’t much I can say that hasn’t already been said but I am obsessed with Adele (and have been) so this album is just icing on the cake. Swoon.

Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me! It has this amazing ability to calm me immediately after having to deal with the crazies at work. I laugh outloud in my cube and I don’t even care. I keep past episodes on my phone that I will listen to over and over again. They never get old.

I absolutely adore Katy Perry! I mean, how could you not when she lists her musical influences as Alanis Morissette, Cyndi Lauper, Pat Benatar and Freddie Mercury (yes, frontman of Queen). She is so poppy, fun, and I love her style.

Katy was even in one of my favorite TV series which leads me into…

Yes, How I Met Your Mother. I hated last night’s episode – so ready for Zoe to be outted. But I do love the Robin Sparkles, especially this song, so much that it’s my ringtone (which is probably why I feel like I am always listening to it). Also, I never seem to skip it when it comes up on shuffle… and that’s saying something.

Finally, the inner geek in me loves Glee and everything about it… including the music of course. It takes some serious self-restraint to not sing at my desk; dancing on the other hand is another story. However, when I read this, I’m not sure how I feel… I love Glee, love Adele, but couldn’t they have found a better voice? I get it, Gwyneth has definitely improved her voice but come on. This is going a tad too far. So maybe I should revise that first sentence to read: “…loves Glee and everything about it except when they have actors sing songs well out of their vocal range and league.” There. Better. But who’s excited for this!! I know right.

gatsby

There once was this dog named Gatsby…

Who always used his nose more than his brain…

And acted so goofy when he would get caught…

And would put himself in time out…

But then would give me these puppy dog eyes…

That I never could resist…

So I would let him go back to chewing the freakishly long stick he found…

Because let’s be real.

The End.
